Supported Formats
Kythia Convert aims to be your one-stop media conversion tool. By combining the power of native Rust image processing with a bundled FFmpeg sidecar, it can handle nearly any common (and uncommon) media format.
Images
Section titled “Images”Image conversion is incredibly fast. Most lossless formats and common web formats are processed natively via Rust’s image crate in a background thread, avoiding the overhead of spawning external processes.
Input Formats
Section titled “Input Formats”- Standard Web:
png,jpg,jpeg,webp,gif,bmp,ico - Professional / RAW:
tiff,tga,hdr,exr,cr2,cr3,nef,arw,dng,orf,raf,rw2,pef,srw - Modern:

Output Targets
Section titled “Output Targets”png,jpg,jpeg,webp,bmp,ico,tiff,tga- Compress: A special target that re-encodes the image at a lower quality (50%) while keeping the original extension.
Videos
Section titled “Videos”Video conversion is offloaded to a bundled ffmpeg executable. Kythia Convert automatically detects the best hardware encoder available (like NVENC for NVIDIA or QuickSync for Intel) to accelerate conversion speed.
Supported Containers
Section titled “Supported Containers”mp4, mkv, avi, webm, gif (animated), mov, flv, wmv, m4v
Note: Extracting audio from a video file by selecting an audio output format (e.g., MP4 to MP3) is fully supported!
Audio conversion is also powered by FFmpeg, offering high-quality, multithreaded transcoding.

Pro Tip: You can select hundreds of mixed files (e.g., a batch of 50 JPGs and 20 MP4s) and convert them all simultaneously. Kythia Convert’s engine will intelligently route them to the correct processors concurrently.
